Photographer and filmmaker Samar Jodha brings over 20 years of experience to the field of visual communication. In 2003 when Burj project was announced, Samar conceptualized documenting the making of the tallest tower in the world. His process was to create a visual library both on still and moving media. This 6-year exercise included working very closely with dozens of teams in the project offices and the developer of the tower. He along with his team at Spectra Maxima set up half a dozen cameras to shoot various time-lapse films of the tower going up at final height of 164-story - 2,717 feet. Aerial shoots at every 4 weeks to dozens of specialized documentaries including shoots of cladding testing in China, to providing visuals for Skyscraper Museum in Manhattan on the Burj exhibition. This work has been widely shown on National Geo and shows such as Mega builders. Samar devotes his time to both his editorial and social communication projects as well as photography workshops with street children in developing countries . His personal project, “Aging in India”, was presented by the United Nations in 1999 in the form of a traveling exhibition to mark the International Year of Older Persons and received international acclaim. His recent project on television and popular culture in South Asia was described by the New York Times as a “beautiful series” and showcased in galleries in Mumbai, Brussels, New York and Frankfurt. He has been a regular speaker on TEDx.
